In 2017 I attended Philly Music Fest at World Café Live, the event was dedicated to rising stars in the Philly music-scene. As I wandered between different stages, I came across a quartet dripped with matching suits. The room was filled with the sounds of rock, blues, and plenty of soul, which helped my drink go down just a little bit easier. The sweet sound of Ceramic Animal had fallen upon my ears for the very first time.
“All My Loving” is an absolute banger, the song is nearly ten minutes. Verses filled with sweet licks, a chorus that makes you throw on your stank face and rock your head to the beat, leading to an extended instrumental section where the band grooves just before a triumphant return to the chorus. These savants of the minor pentatonic scale are a must-see, and a must-listen.
