Beyond 20th Street on Oregon Ave there are a plethora of fast food options, the usual suspects Burger King, Wendy’s and McDonald’s all sit within a stone throw of one another. Not only are those corporate behemoths present, local businesses Phillip’s Steaks, China House No. 5, and Rocco’s Italian Sausages swim in these highly competitive fast food waters.
Looming over them, like a dark delicious Christian cloud, is the construction of a brand new Chick-Fil-A on 2281 Oregon Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19145.
Now competing for business from I-76 commuters entering the city from Jersey or leaving the city after a Phillies game are the massive milkshake merchants, the profound purveyors of poultry – which my South Philly Italian grandfather called “Chick-A-Fil.”
Burger King, McDonald’s, and Wendy’s better prepare to feast on the Sunday scraps left behind by smiling teenagers with iPads taking their customers six days a week.
Prepare for a fast food opening like you’ve never seen before, the Chick-Fil-A on Columbus Blvd has had a line in their drive through since the day they opened in 2004.

This new Chick-Fil-A is operated by Julia Clifton, who was the Operating Partner of a Chick-Fil-A in Northeast Philly for about 4 years previous to beginning the South Philly project. Clifton has more than 10 years of Chick-Fil-A experience, according to her LinkedIn.
