From Whack’s World to Whack’s Museum – Tierra Whack has spent close to a decade making Philadelphia proud as the most respectable and talented individual lyricist in the city. In earnest, the entire album Whack’s Museum could’ve been our song of the week – because Tierra Whack releases fully-considered projects impeccably.
Whack is perched at the top of the 21st Century Philadelphia Hip-Hop Class alongside Meek Mill and Lil Uzi Vert as the standout artists in the genre that were able to break out of the local scene and sustain fruitful careers. In “BRAZILIAN WAX” she acknowledges her spot as a Philly great “In my mind, I’m top five, next to Meek and Beanie Sigel.”
The beat to BRAZILIAN WAX consists of some distorted soul samples, classic boom-bap drums, and slick swooning horns. On top of that beat Tierra Whack slides effortlessly delivering one front-to-back verse without any bridges or a chorus. This song is an exhibition in wordplay and straight rapping.
