Philly Song of the Week: “Get Down On The Ground” by Gillie Da Kid

Gillie Da Kid has become one of Philly’s most recognizable ambassadors over the last few years as his show “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” has grown. Alongside his co-host Wallo – Gillie has gained national acclaim for his hilarious antics and quintessentially Philadelphian attitude.

This week we’re recognizing the song that made Gillie Da Kid a Philadelphia icon. Get Down on The Ground was an early example of YouTube, LimeWire, and DatPiff success. The music video was released on YouTube back in 2008 and was a resounding local success.

The very next year – MIMS attempted to copy Gillie’s beat and flow in the song “Move If You Wanna” which got national recognition.

It’s great to see Gillie’s career pop off in it’s second-leg. Salute to Gillie, the king of Philly.
