Do you like trains? How about big trains? Well boy are you in luck!
The world’s largest operating steam locomotive, Big Boy No. 4014 is headed to Philadelphia for July 4th! But not only will this one million pound vehicle be in Philadelphia, it is spending practically an entire month in Pennsylvania.
Big Boy departed from Wyoming on Memorial Day, then is expected to touch the Keystone State for a brief stint on June 9th by the Lake Shore Railway Museum. But on June 13th, Big Boy begins his tour through the Commonwealth that will essentially last until it exits Pennsylvania on July 12th.

This Big Boy was made in November 1941 by the American Locomotive Company, and retired early in 1961. In 2026, 4014 remains as one of eight remaining Big Boys and is by far the most mobile of the remaining Boys.
Get outside and tour this beautiful state to see a big ass steam train! This trip is part of America’s Semiquincentennial and is a fun free thing to do with your friends and family!
