Philly Song of the Week: “[PRESS]” by Armani White

Written by:

Your Philly Plain Dealer Song of the Week is “[PRESS]” by Armani White! Whenever Armani Blanco drops a fire single we’re going to make it the Philly Song of the Week.

“[PRESS]” is something a little different from Armani in the sense that tonally White has stepped back into his aggression and flow from earlier in his career. “[PRESS]” is not a family friendly song, the intro-sample screams “House real big, cars real big. Dick real big, everything real big” to start the track and then the song is averaging a curse word every other line.

This is not mainstream Armani White, this Armani White will press you. However, White did utilize another classic sample on this track, this time it’s Mannie Fresh’s “Real Big.”

Since his breakout hit “BILLIE EILISH.” White has had ample success, more than 14 songs released by White have more than a million streams, he’s been on red carpets and music festivals, but also TMZ has been on his ass and fame has changed his life.

“[PRESS]” is White’s version of an archetypal “punch somebody in the face and dance song” akin to DMX’s “Party Up” or “Hit a Muthafucka” by Three 6 Mafia! You’re not supposed to actually hit people when the song comes on, you’re supposed to make a stank face, jump up and down, and maybe push a homie a little bit.

When asked “what makes this song the right song to drop at this point in your career” Armani White told the Philly Plain Dealer “Rap music needs something to be excited about again.”

Congratulations to Armani White – you have made this week’s Philly Song of the Week!
