One of the weirdest and most remarkable sections of Philadelphia is our “South Philly Sports and Partying District” which includes a casino, a giant bar, and 3 sports venues. Philly sports fans have the rare opportunity to attend multiple sporting events in the same day without needing transportation from point A to point B.
Different people call it different things, but essentially a Philly Double Down or a Bang-Bang is when you attend one Philadelphia sporting event and then go to a second Philadelphia sporting event without leaving South Philadelphia.
There are rare opportunities to accomplish this feat, but the premiere season to partake in this sports tradition is from March 30th to April 15th in any given year.
The Double Down is accomplishable because all three of the City’s sports complexes are next to each other, in walking distance, with no shortage of bars and amusements in the area.

The Philly Plain Dealer has identified four dates in this 2026 Double Down Season where fans can plan to go to both games:
- The Triple Option – March 29, 2026 – Phillies Vs. Rangers 1:35pm (Opening Series) and Flyers Vs. Dallas Stars 7pm + Wings Vs. Toronto Rock 1pm
- The Journeyman – April 1, 2026 – Phillies Vs. Nationals 1:05pm and Sixers AT Wizard 7pm
- Dessert Takedown – April 11, 2026 – Phillies Vs. D-Backs 1:05pm and Wings Vs. Las Vegas Dessert Dogs 7pm
- Giveaway Get Down – April 12, 2026 – Phillies Vs. D-Backs 1:35pm (Phanatics Birthday // Phanatics Bobble Head – 14 and under) and Sixers Vs. Bucks 7pm (Shaker Bottle)
- Traffic Jam – March 30, 2026 – Phillies Vs. National 6:40pm and Sixers Vs. Heat 7pm
- Traffic Jam – April 13, 2026 – Phillies Vs. Cubs at 6:40 and Flyers Vs. Hurricanes 7pm
There is a ton of variety in this year’s Double Down Schedule. The best option is likely the “Giveaway Get Down” which includes the Phillie Phanatic’s Birthday and the Sixers last home game. Bring your kid to this double down and you’ll receive a free bobble head at the Phillies game and a free shaker bottle at the Sixers game.
Wanna see two Philly teams but leave Philly? Well on April 1st you can go watch the Phillies Vs. Nationals, then catch the 4:10pm Acela train to Washington DC to arrive in DC in time for the 7pm first pitch.
The Triple Option is perhaps the most interesting offer on March 29, 2026 you can see either the Phillies Vs. Rangers at 1:35pm (Opening Series) OR Wings Vs. Toronto Rock at 1pm, then go see and Flyers Vs. Dallas Stars at 7pm.
Two Traffic Jams are listed for March 30th and April 13th, on these days multiple teams play at the same time in South Philly, so just brace yourself if you’re headed South.
Check your schedules, plan accordingly, and prep yourselves for Double Down season.
