The DNC is selling Official Democrat Membership Cards.

America’s two-party system is stupid and flawed. The Democratic Party and the Republican Party are essentially two money laundering operations whose entire existence revolves around fundraising. I have an entire email address dedicated to political organizations and spam, because the spam that political operatives send out is most reflective of the conversations happening inside of those parties.

Today, I opened an email from the Democratic National Convention that shocked me. It appears that the Democratic Party is attempting to dupe it’s less intelligent constituents into purchasing Democratic membership cards. The email boasts that more than “116,000 people” currently own a 2021 DNC Membership Card.

Most fundraising is a scam; and few institutions deserve your money less than political parties. However, just a year or so after the Trump campaign was accused of unethical campaign finance spending and months after Republicans fundraised off of election fraud claims, Democrats are scamming in their own way.

Some may think that being a “card carrying Democrat” is a fun idea and that I should relax; but the verbiage in the email is far more sinister than “repping your team.”

“Please donate $7 to renew your DNC membership card before it’s too late.” The verbiage of the email does not at any point explain that the DNC membership card has no practical function, nor that it’s simply for show. In the age of disinformation and general confusion regarding voting and politics, this fundraising tactic by the DNC shows just how out of touch and obsessed with money the Democratic National Convention is.

This solicitation from the “grassroots organizers” of the DNC was an attempt to trick people into donating. The “card-carrying member” scam has been in the DNC playbook as far back as 2015, it was ineffective in securing the 2016 election, but at least that was leading up to an election. In March of 2021, why does the DNC need money? They control every facet on the American government. Apparently in the middle of a pandemic & economic depression the Democratic Party thinks that your $7.00 is better off with them.

The majority of political fundraising is completely unscrupulous; however the thought of my mother or someone’s grandmother being tricked by DNC fundraisers made my blood boil. This method of fundraising is completely unethical and no one seems to care.

Politics is mostly fundraising. If this scam is any indication of the state of politics, America is in trouble. You can either donate to the RNC to overturn the election or you can become a card carrying member of the DNC; what a depressing set of options.
