Philly’s First “Hot Girl Walk” Brings Women Together at FDR Park

On Saturday morning there was a sign outside of FDR Park in South Philly that read “No Events Today.” That sign was wrong.

Hundreds of women and girls strolled through FDR Park for Philadelphia’s first ever “Hot Girl Walk.” The group strutted wearing primarily hot pink, softer pinks, and variations of red.

Hot Girl Walk is much more than it sounds, at its core a certified “Hot Girl Walk” has a few qualifying elements, according to their official website

“Hot Girl Walk is an outdoor walk of 3-4 miles, where you focus on 3 things: What you’re Grateful for, Your Goals and how you’re going to achieve them, How HOT you are! (aka Confidence). Hot Girl Walks are a personal journey of introspection and reflection, evolving into self confidence”

That spirit could be felt radiating off of Philly’s Hot Girl Walk ambassador Kate Loseke, who said about the event “Hot Girl Walk was created by Mia Lind during COVID to kind of combat the effects of isolation and people not really getting out and moving. The Hot Girl walk is about three things. It’s about thinking about your goals, what you’re thankful for, how you’re going to achieve your goals, and mostly how hot you are in terms of what your confidence is. It’s open to all, even though it’s a hot girl walk, and everyone’s welcome, we are accessible to anyone that wants to join.”

According to Loseke there were about 200 attendees at the first-ever Hot Girl Walk; she also mentioned that these walks will be taking place monthly. She said she “posted on Facebook, people got excited, and it was a crazy turnout for our first walk, I had no idea what to expect!”

Saturday morning was an exercise of physical wellness and community building. Two hundred people made their way to FDR Park to try something new, honor themselves, and make connections. “I think it’s just great bringing women together,” Loseke began “in a big city. It’s hard to connect with people sometimes. A lot of people asked if they could come alone and honestly, that’s great. They can meet people! I don’t want anyone to leave here without making a connection. So being able to move our bodies and connect with other women, anyone else, I think, is super important.”
