This morning (12/9/2025) ESPN Insider Jeff Passan broke the news that the Phillies fan favorite, slugger, and Designated Hitter Kyle Schwarber has re-signed with the Philadelphia Phillies on a 5 year $150-million contract!
After a season of rumors and reckless speculation about whether he’d go home to Ohio, back to the Cubs or be bought by one of the big dogs like the Yankees or Dodgers. Hell – two hours ago Sports Illustrated broke down the Pittsburgh Pirates offer to Schwarber.
Schwarber hit 56 home runs last year and now Phillies fans will likely get to see about 200 more Schwarbombs over the next five years.
This signing has implications for the rest of the payroll – “will they pay Ranger Suarez now?” Is the first question that comes to mind.
Personally, Kyle Schwarber is one of the only guys I wanted to see back. This team is due for some real changes and a vibe switch, but Kyle Schwarber has never been the problem.
Now it’s time to see what the Phillies do about Ranger, JT Realmuto, Harrison Bader, and Jose Alvarado. This was fantastic news to receive following the Eagles brutal continuation of a 3-game losing streak against the Chargers on the Monsters Inc. Monday Night Football broadcast.
So hooray to the Phillies and we’re thrilled to be your home Schwarber!
