First and foremost, vaping is bad and shouldn’t be done. It’s a new technology that’s effects on the human body and lungs will not be known until my generation is 50 or 60 years old, but it’s safe to assume that vaping is just as bad, if not worse than cigarettes.

That being said, people who are addicted to nicotine are forced to ask themselves “can I bring my vape” before going to places with strict security. Vaping in public and indoors is rude, however nicotine addiction is strong and has been forcing people to rudely bellow smoke in all sorts of places for hundreds of years.

People who smoke vapes know they shouldn’t be vaping in their seat at Citizens Bank Park or on an airplane, but it’s incredibly easy to hide and it’ll make you feel better, so why not? Or if you’re one of the more polite vapers, you go vape in the bathroom.

But can you bring your vapes into Philly’s sports venues?

Lincoln Financial Field

No, you are not allowed to bring your vape or e-cig to the Eagles game. However their security is relaxed and their metal detectors seemingly do not recognize disposable vapes. I’ve never had an issue bringing a vape into an Eagles game or the Kendrick Lamar concert.

This is probably Philly’s most vape friendly stadium, sure I’ve been told to stop by an usher once, but that was early in the Birds season before everyone had smoke coming from their breaths because it was so cold out. By week 11 against the Lions, you’ll be able to vape obnoxiously at Eagles games without ever being suspected of a thing.

Wells Fargo Center // Xfinity Mobile Arena

No, you are not allowed to bring your vape or e-cig to the Flyers, Wings, or Sixers game. Honestly, consider leaving your vape at home or in the car for a night at the Farg. The security at a Sixers game borders on disrespectful. The corralling process to enter the Xfinity Mobile arena is second only to the TSA in strictness and rudeness.

They will throw away your purse for being too big, as if it needs to fit an overhead compartment. Sixers games often lack enthusiasm in the first quarter, likely because of the long miserable line fans are forced to wait in listening to Allied Universal Employees screaming that you empty your pockets.

These metal detectors are the real deal and the security is strict. Non-vapers will have to remove their belt and take off their hats, it’s a demoralizing and unpleasant experience, something Sixers fans have grown accustomed to.

Citizens Bank Park

Of course you’re not allowed to bring your vape into Citizens Bank Park. But much like the Philadelphia Eagles, they don’t really care. You’ll only ever lose your vape two ways at the Phillies stadium, if they see it as you’re entering or if you are pulled for extra evaluation. The Phillies security randomly selects fans as they walk in to be searched, it’s unlikely that you’ll be pulled but it is a possibility.

As stated previously, vaping is dangerous and shameful, vaping in public is rude and distasteful. But sometimes addiction wins and you gotta do what you gotta do.

Vaping in risky places pro-tip: If you’re ever weighing whether or not to bring a vape to a concert venue, on a plane or somewhere “rules” say you shouldn’t have it. Bring one of your old vapes that just has a little life in it, so if they take it you’re not losing the full $10-30 that you spent on your pointless addiction.
