Here it is, your Philly Plain Dealer song of the week: Your Lie in April by YureiXoX.
The type of music that YureiXoX makes can be placed somewhere between the subgenres of hip-hop known as “cloud rap” and “rage trap.” Cloud rap is defined by heavily distorted elements, with a hazy dreamlike quality; whereas Rage Trap is defined by aggressive synths and heavy bass. Your Lie in April leans more into cloud rap qualities with a melodic guitar riff, heavily distorted vocals, and a heavy bass.
If you enjoy artists like Playboi Carti, Trippie Redd, Travis Scott, and Destroy Lonely, you will probably enjoy the musical stylings of YureiXoX.
YureiXoX has been making music for well over five years in Philadelphia with a ton of music on SoundCloud. Your Lie in April is from his 2025 album by the same name, which is available on Spotify and Apple Music.
Recently YureiXoX has been collaborating with Juno 2 Lazy, the two worked together on a project called “REDO.” which has more of an upbeat pace and dancing vibe.
Through these two 2025 projects, it’s clear that the work YureiXoX has been putting in on SoundCloud for the past few years has helped him define his sound and develop variation on his sound.
