On Thursday November 30th and Friday December 1st, the freeform archival project Sleepwalker Entertainment will be hosting a two day doubleheader of live music in the Fishtown and Port Richmond neighborhoods. The jam packed schedule of performances will be a variety of eclectic music for the Philadelphia public to tap into.
The music being performed by these artists ranges from Underground Hip Hop to Electric Indie. With artists from Washington DC and hometown heroes in Philadelphia, this promises to be an invigorating experience. Amari Newman, of Sleepwalker Entertainment, was a one man operation in the organizing of these two shows. Through Newman’s connections of working and collaborating with different people in the Philadelphia music scene and different venues, he was able to secure two locations for the events.
“ I feel like the main reason I’ve continued putting shows together is to showcase real musicians that are actively shaping the genre of Hip-hop and all its offshoots. I’ve been doing this since 2020 when I moved here. I’m also looking at these events as time capsules of sorts. So when people look at the flyer in a couple years they’ll be like damn that lineup was crazy,” Said Amari Newman, Creator of Sleepwalker Entertainment

The first show will take place at the Kung fu Necktie bar in Fishtown. Five artists and one band are set to perform. Headlining both shows will be Sir E.U. Sir E.U, a Washington D.C. emcee whose high-level lyricism and diverse beat selection transcends music genres . Airospace, a DC rapper who describes himself as a “sad rap boy with goth girl features” and creates his music guided by emotion and honest expression. Then there is Jah$tar, a native Northeast Philadelphia avant-garde rapper, who is known for being one of the most versatile artists in the city. Whether he’s rapping over production with intense 808s and cosmic melodies, or a traditional hip-hop beat. Next, Fast Car Slow Car, the Philadelphia based Electro-Indie band that has been on a musical tear this past year, by captivating every DIY space, club, and venue graced with their presence. Following them will be Ren Cinema, another Northeast Philadelphia native, who is known for how he connects with his audience and fans through his music. And last but not least, Cyb3r T0NIN who is a DC-based DJ who will be DJing Sir E.U’s set and providing the sounds for the night.

The second show of the two day showcase will be on Friday and will take place at Creep Records in Port Richmond. Blake Parker is from Chicago, but is currently based in New York City. They make an interesting blend of R&B, Pop, Indie, and Rap. Kear is another Philadelphia native who makes experimental rap. Her sound is futuristic, and energetic. Inutech, Akin Inaj, and Vera Yvan ofthe Orange Cap Studios (ORCA) will also be performing. ORCA is a music collective of producers, rappers, and engineers based out of the Philadelphia area. They are known for their intense live shows and “Powder Punk” music. Following ORCA, will be DJ Lucky SVN, an artist from the DC, Maryland and Virginia area who is also set to be providing sounds for the night. Additionally, Sir E.U and Airospace are set to perform for the second night in a row as well.
